2. Which is better for me: CIJ, fiber laser, or CO2 laser?

4. What can a 1kW CO2 laser do, and does Videojet make one?
A 1kW CO2 laser is a serious cutting tool. It can cut wood, acrylic, and thin steel with assist gas. It is not a coding laser. Industrial marking CO2 lasers are much lower power—typically 10 to 60 watts—and they're designed to scribe date codes and lot numbers onto cartons, labels, bottles, and coated packaging. Videojet doesn't sell a 1kW CO2 laser marker because that's not a marking category; it's a cutting category.
I've had three requests this year alone where someone asked for a "1kW CO2 laser" and actually needed a small CO2 coder for a bottle line. Big number. Wrong tool.
